Is Your Life a Game or a Sport?

I want to talk about games versus sports.  I had this concept presented to me a while ago. The idea is that a game doesn't have a defense, but sports do. A sport has a defense. And oh my goodness, what a fantastic conversation that brings up with people! Try it some time. Have a conversation with your friends about a game versus a sport. All sorts of things will come up. Golf? Just a game and not a sport. What about chess or checkers? A sport and not a game. It’s pretty interesting.

Today I was thinking about game or sport as it relates to life. We sometimes think about life as a sport, and there’s a defense. At times, you have to play defense, which starts to creep in the idea of scarcity, and we play it safe or not all out. I started thinking, what if life is a game? If life is a game, I think more about honing my skills to become better. How do I work to be better at playing the game? And all of a sudden, the idea of scarcity vanishes, and it's all about abundance.

It's all about getting better, honing your skills, and getting stronger. It's a fascinating concept to play with because I think it's the right one. If life is a sport, who is the defense aside from yourself? Over time I realized that no one cares about your life more than you do. Not to say that you don't have loved ones in your life. Absolutely! Everybody has someone that cares about them, but your death is on you. Your success is on you. By treating life more like a game and focusing on your skills and abundance rather than on scarcity, you figure out how to master your game better. Instead of trying to play someone else's game or pretend that there's a defense, you need to either play it safe or go on the defensive.
